Pinnick was working at night during two weeks in February 2011 to haul rock approximately two miles from the north cut near Camino del Rey to the north abutment of the new San Luis Rey River bridge. Since the haul road crossed Highway 76 at three places and also North River Road, Pinnick did all of this work at night to minimize traffic impacts.
There was a large overhead communications line crossing near North River Road, so the smaller 773 haul trucks were used instead of the 777's. Also, all of the loads were carefully placed and trimmed off as there was less than 2-ft clearance under the line (even after it was raised).
This Caltrans project began in January of 2010. It is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The project was awarded to Flatiron West, Inc.
